“We are creatures identified by what we can do with our hands”

“We’ve been sold a bill of goods - especially parents - about how valuable computer-based experience is. We are creatures identified by what we can do with our hands”

Frank Wilson The Hand

It is so easy to forget that we are more than just our mind as we work at our computer or scroll on our phone. Human brain power and our fine motor skills co-evolved meaning our ability to connect tangibly with the world is related to our ability to understand the world.  Recently, we spend a great deal of time in the visual and auditory realm but little in the tactile realm, especially when it comes to nature.

There is great satisfaction that comes when we unite our mind and body to accomplish meaningful tasks such as lighting a fire to cook our meal, or paddling a canoe to travel across the landscape.

NWJ is built around giving people real experience with the natural world, where they can interact with all their senses to form a deeper connection.
