Get More From Your Time Outside
Time outside is limited, our goal at NWJ is to help you get more from the time that you have outside. Our RECON classes and camp will give you outdoor living (bushcraft) and nature study skills that will connect you more deeply with your environment.
Whether or not you plan on sleeping under a tarp shelter, cooking over a fire or navigating by map and compass on a regular basis, knowing how to do these things will increase your confidence and safety while recreating outdoors.
3 RECON programs:
Our flagship RECON class series is for hikers and every other outdoor-interested adult. These are 5 classes that can be taken in any order covering fire, ax & knife use, knots & rope, shelter, water and cooking and basic compass use. Every class we will also spend time learning about our local ecosystem and building our sense of curiosity and wonder for our natural world.
Similarly our 5 day RECON Kids Camp offers kids ages 7-14 many of these same skills, structured to build kids interest and excitement. We are really passionate at NWJ about igniting kids' enthusiasm for our natural world as well as offering them an opportunity to slow down and disconnect from the fast pace of modern life.
We are also hosting a RECON Family Day this year. We will be cooking over the fire, playing a few games, learning a few things and most importantly sharing a day with other families interested in being outdoors.
Check out these and all of our classes!
